This is one of our favourite Caribbean diving destinations, but its stature is not limited to just the Caribbean, as Grenada offers some of the best wreck diving anywhere!

WHY WE LOVE DIVING IN GRENADA

Bianca C Wreck is a dive not to miss.

Our favourite topside activities ?  The spice market in Georgetown, and the nutmeg processing station

Diving in Grenada

The reefs, both local and off shore, together with a protected marine reserve, offer divers plentiful marine life from the small to the big stuff.  There is also an underwater sculpture museum – it is surreal to sit on a bench at 10m and take in the view of the collection of human sculptures created by the British sculptor Jason de Caires Taylor and depicting a true picture of Grenada’s culture and people.

Where Grenada really comes into its own is the huge choice of wrecks. Often referred to as ‘the wreck capital of the Caribbean’, Grenada offers the wreck enthusiast a multitude of quality wrecks to explore, including the most famous of them all, the Bianca C, a 200m cruise liner sitting upright at a maximum depth of 50m. This one is not to be missed – a huge wreck with loads to offer suitably qualified divers, she holds a firm spot in the ‘Top 10 Wrecks of the World’ according to several dive magazines. Sharks, barracuda, eagle rays and the like are all seen here, but having been at rest since 1951, coral growth is good too, and to dive one of her swimming pools adds to the experience!

For the not so qualified, there are plenty of other wrecks too, including the King Mitch minesweeper that can almost guarantee sharks, tankers, cargo vessels and freighters.
